Today, the internet provides a wealth of resources and information for moms. The following websites are all free to access and provide articles, forums, e-newsletters, and other services to connect, encourage, and assist moms in their day-to-day work.
Untrained Housewife
Founder Angela England started Untrained Housewife when she realized how much she didn’t know about being a mom and wife. She says, “I’ve grown a lot already these past four years of wifedom and enclosed you’ll find tips and tricks I’ve used myself, and others I’ve gathered from wise friends around the world.” Untrained Housewife is a place for moms to gather to learn from each other. There are articles on everything from marriage and parenting to hobbies to cooking to exercise and fitness. This website aims to provide “community, help and encouragement for active parents.” There are sections here by and for dads as well.
Homebodies
Owners Mat and Regi Casner aim “To help families stay strong through tough decisions. To offer support in times of distress. To laugh and share excitement when we see our children reach those precious milestones. To make each of us better spouses, parents and citizens.” Homebodies provides articles, forums, a bookstore, other links of interest, and a free online community.
The Mom Writes
Founder Prerna Malik started The Mom Writes “as a place to share my views, ideas and tips on life as a mom, wife, writer and woman and I am happy to say that it has evolved into exactly that and so much more.” She posts articles in four categories: Being a Homemaker, Being a Mom, Being a Woman, and Being a Writer. This website is easy to navigate and has a ton of information and advice.
Family & Home Network
Family & Home Network began as a grassroots volunteer organization and has now moved to the worldwide web. In December 2010, the site was still growing, but already has a selection of encouraging and information articles and includes plans for a forum.
The Household Helper
Founder Cara Mirabella “shares with other moms the tips, tricks and tools to help them save their time, money and sanity when managing their home and family” on her information-packed blog. Topics covered in The Household Helper include cleaning, decoration, meal planning, coupons, frugal living, recipes, and more.
Main Street Mom
An online magazine for modern mothers with traditional values, Main Street Mom offers a free newsletters and tons of online articles on topics such as budgeting, working at home, parenting, pregnancy, gardening, marriage, and more. The site includes recipes and games for children, links to contests, and a forum.
